we’re still marching

Day 1 — Your Best Friend

Dear Best Friend,

I don’t quite know what to make of you. You’re there, and sometimes you’re not. You’re so hard to reach. Everything is fast paced around you, like the way you transitioned from being that sweet innocent little girl I knew freshman year into the person you are now. I don’t know what to make of you. I also don’t quite think you fit the normal figure of a best friend either. There are definitely things I don’t feel comfortable telling you, but you said it the best a few years back: “I’ve only known you for a year, but it feels like I’ve known you forever.” That was true back then, I don’t really know about now. Although, I guess I shouldn’t worry too much, because I know I’m still someone special to you, and you’re still very special to me. We’re just growing up.
